Cannon ≠ Canon

I was browsing around the Mega Man section of fanfiction.net, and I noticed that there seem to be a few new C2 communities. One of them is named "Rock Man Cannon." Obviously this must be a community dedicated to fics which center around the Rockbuster/X-buster/Z-buster. ^_^

There also seems to be a new ratings system in effect, which makes sense on some level — I mean, the MPAA ratings system is designed for movies, which are quite a different medium than written fiction — but after looking at the ratings, they seem to be pretty much exactly the same, only instead of the G -> PG -> PG13 -> R progression, it's K -> K+ -> T -> M. "M" is for 16 and up instead of 17 and up, but other than that the only change I can see is that there's suddenly going to be a lot of people who will be Highly Confused when they suddenly see unfamiliar letters showing up for their ratings choices.

Yeah. A couple of the fics seem set securely within canon continuity (which I think is what the manager was trying to do), but one has Neon Tiger show up in the Mega Man Zero timeline and another has Fire Man and Cut Man turn up in the 22nd century. *sigh* None of them are what I'd call great pieces of writing.

I love how the manager has in the community blurb, "Staff members wanted! Preferably with more knowledge on the games than I have." Um... if you don't know much about the games, why are you even trying to set up a community like this? >_
