Bobcat Moran

There is a small part of me that will be spending all day tomorrow in slightly paranoid anticipation of a kaiju coming out of the sea and wiping San Francisco off the map. Why, you ask? Well, in Pacific Rim, August 10, 2013 was the day of the first kaiju attack. If you ask me, it's a bit odd of the movie to have had a date where it would eliminate any chance of it coming true before it'd be released on DVD (I've always hated when SF does stuff like that, because for me part of the appeal has always been, "But that could still actually happen!"), but OTOH, I'd be interested to see what the box office receipts look like and if there's any sort of bump from people going to see it in a sort of celebration of real-world dates of movie events.
