Rockman Perfect Memories: X2-X6
Oct. 6th, 2004 08:43 pmThese are my translations of the random little bits from Rockman Perfect Memories Previous bits can be found under my Memories (I'm too lazy to link to them right now). I'm going to admit up front that I am not fluent in Japanese, and although I've done my best, there are some gaps where I couldn't figure out what on earth the book was saying, and some of the translations are dubious at best. Anything in brackets [like this] is me talking, not the book. I'm using the Japanese terms, e.g. "Irregular," "Repliroid," "Rockman" instead of the terms used in the English releases of the games, e.g. "Maverick," "Reploid," "Megaman."
Some of this is basically ads for the games, but there is some real information in there, as well.
X2
Story
It's been half a year since the fight with Sigma.... Irregulars have emerged on every corner of the earth! Every one involved bears a chip with a "Σ" mark engraved on it. Is this event the work of Simga?! Filled with sorrow over the loss of Zero, X fights!
Still recovering from teh death of his comrade, Zero, X returns to the battlefield!
It has been one year since "X"...[the first game in the series is simply referred to as "X" throughout the book. Very confusing.] Capcom has watched for an opportunity to put "Rocman X2" on the market. It carries the CX4 ROM chip, and production is fully powered-up. The Irregular Hunters chase the mysterious "Counter Hunter" organization, the revival of the wrecked Zero, and other dramatic bits make for an interesting story!!
The monumental impact of having a new technique!
"X2" introduced the "C4 Chip"! This allows the Super Famicom to have marvelous "More free frame with 3-D representation" and "Character magnify-reduce." It also allows fancy effect to be represented!
Dash and Air Dash become possible!
In this game, dash is possible under normal conditions! If you wear the leg parts, you can dash left and right in midair; this addition is the "Air Dash"!!
Game Characters
CF-0
The Counter Hunters mass produced huge mechanilods. They made huge quantities in order to distribute them worldwide. Attach the head--that's the weak spot!
Violen
He is one of the Counter Hunters. Power was an important component of the design for this fighter-type. he waves wround an iron ball attached to his head to attack. His destructive power is a definite threat. You'll want to be careful around this guy!
Serges
He is a scientist with a clear head. He holds the position of leader of the Counter Hunters. [something I couldn't understand] he developed by himself the giant mecha he rides on for his entrance. He may strike you as having the figure of an old man, but his attack power is high!
Agile
This member of the Counter Hunters uses kenjutsu [the art of fencing]. In the game, you can see that he favors attacking with a long sword. his power and speed are superior; there is no opening in his attack. Also, no matter what time it is, he will speak in a polite tone--he's a gentleman.
Zero
In "X," he was smashed. In "X2," his brain chip is the only thing they have. However, the Counter Hunters have suddenly pushed ahead of X -- what will happen to Zero?!
Sigma
Supposedly destroyed, Sigma has returned. This time, he is the ringleader of the events, pulling the strings of the Counter Hunters from behind the scenes. His personal goal, now that he's revived, is to attack X!
Boss Characters [this is followed by a listing of the stage bosses and the weapons that X gains from them.]
You have 8 bosses to fight from the start. Defeat them, and Counter Hunters appear. A sponge, a centipede, this may be a unique party, but don't look down on their real power!!
