1. baking bread:
   I've gotten into this hardcore this summer. I haven't bought a loaf of bread since sometime in early June. I think it must be genetic. My sister's an avid baker (we exchange recipies and tips), and our mom nearly went into business selling her stuff until she discovered that in order to comply with health regulations, our entire kitchen would have to be remodeled.
2. carnivorous plants:
   Added when I was in the middle of a project on purple pitcher plants. And c'mon, how can you not think that plants that eat bugs are totally awesome? That has got to be one of the coolest evolutionary adaptations ever.
3. douglas adams:
   One of my favorite authors since ninth grade, when I picked up The Restaurant at the End of the Universe. Coincidentally, I'm currently in the middle of a re-read of the entire Hitchhiker's trilogy.
4. fanfiction:
   This is what sucked me into the internet, back when dinosaurs roamed the earth when webpages tended to be almost completely text-based. It's also what finally got me to move slightly beyond the lurking stage.
5. full metal alchemist:
   AKA "The anime that ate Bobcat's brain."
6. genfic:
   I am of the opinion that more people need to write fics that are completely snog-free. Sure, romance is nice in moderation, but there are times when I'm like, "Hey, can't they just be friends?" This summer, especially, I've been a huge fan of genfic, if nothing else because of the "no porn" rules and because a rather frightening percentage of fics with pairings seem to include sex in them somewhere, even if they're only rated PG or PG-13.
7. habitat for humanity:
   I was the habi-secretary for my college's chapter for three years. Made lots of friends, had some awesome spring break trips, and learned how to do everything from drywall to sofits. Good times.
8. kogen taiko:
   Taiko is Japanese drumming. If you've never seen it performed live, go! And bring earplugs if you plan to sit up front. These guys are possibly the best North American group and I'm not just saying that because I know every single person in it.
9. megaman:
   Found out about the blue bomber nearly 4 years ago via a sprite comic about my then-current obsession, "X-Men Evolution." I got hooked, and I still am.
10. ninja pirates:
    Because if ninjas are awesome and pirates are awesome, ninja pirates are so awesome they'd make your head explode.
