bobcatmoranIt's probably a good thing that it's been revealed that Irregular Hunter X will have cutscenes. It gives me a good kick in the pants to get moving on finishing up some fics that have been nibbling at my brain for a long while. Heck, one of them is practically finished already. It's been fully written for months. I've been agonizing over posting it anywhere, though, because it has not one, but two female OCs in it. I've tried really, really hard to keep them well grounded and not Mary Sues, but I know that when I see OCs show up in other people's fics, that immediately sends up little red flags.
Not to mention that I gave the fic the "read-aloud" test last night, to see if the dialogue flowed all right, and one of the OCs suddenly decided that she wanted to be voiced with a Southern accent. No idea where that came from. Goodness knows she never sounded like that while I was writing her or when I silently read it over. I've never had that happen to me before. Okay, so sometimes characters come out with British accents when I read aloud, but that's just because I've been reading Douglas Adams or Brian Jacques recently (my brother gets a kick out of talking to me if I've just been reading any of the Redwall series). And in that case, everyone has a British accent, not just one random character.
