Wow. Long week at work. Won't go into it aside from saying that GPS is awesome and having to wear full-body protective equipment in 85+ degree weather is not.
Anyway, here's another small snippet from a still-untitled WIP, where Blues.EXE finds himself in the real world, fully human. I'm still working on the bit that takes place between this part and the one I previously posted (found here), but I think this stands alone fairly well. As a side note, this takes place in the game universe, where Enzan is an Official Netbattler.

Hikari Netto was having a good day. The sun was shining, he had managed a “B+” on his math test, and Papa had said that they could go out for ice cream after school. He got off the Metroline, and half-ran up the steps to the Science Lab. He waved hello to the secretary by the entrance, then headed down the hall to his father’s lab. The door to the lab was closed, and there was a strange man sitting in a chair outside, tapping a finger on the armrest.
Netto plopped down in the chair next to the man. “Hi!” he said, smiling at the stranger.
The man stopped his tapping and turned his sunglasses-shaded face to look at Netto. “Hello,” came the reply.
“Are you waiting to see Papa? I mean, Hikari-hakase, he’s my dad,” Netto said.
“I know,” the man stated. “I am waiting for him to finish his meeting.”
“Hey, so am I!” exclaimed Netto. “You’re not going out for ice cream, too, are you?”
“Ice cream? I don’t think so.”
“Oh.” Netto sat quietly for a few seconds, looking at the stranger out of the corner of his eye. The man had shifted positions slightly so that he was sitting with his arms crossed, staring at the opposite wall. There was something vaguely familiar about him, particularly his long, silvery hair. Netto had never seen anyone with hair that long before. “Is that your real hair?”
“Yes.”
“Can I touch it?”
“No.” The man gave him an irritated glare, pushing his hair over to the side away from Netto.
“Sorry,” Netto mumbled.
There was a sound of voices coming from the other side of the lab door, growing louder. “… if he’s actually with you, then it might be easier to … oh, hello, Netto.” Dr. Hikari said as he opened the door and saw his son sitting next to the stranger. Ijuuin Enzan, looking even crabbier than usual, was in the doorway, clutching his PET. “I’m really sorry, Netto, but there’s been a bit of an emergency situation, and I need to work late again. Can we shoot for ice cream tomorrow?”
“Yeah, I guess,” Netto said, disappointed.
“Hikari-hakase, will this … problem be solved by them?” Enzan asked.
“I certainly hope so,” Dr. Hikari replied. He then turned to the stranger. “Come on in, and we’ll see if we can figure this out.”
Netto caught the stranger quietly saying, “Enzan-sama, how long will this take?” before the door shut again.
Enzan-sama? Netto thought. But the only person who calls him that is… “Hey, Rockman?”
“Netto-kun?”
“Did you notice anything funny about that guy?”
“You mean the man you were sitting next to? He looked a bit like Blues, didn’t he?”
“Yeah, but … well …”
“… It couldn’t possibly be him,” Rockman finished. “I mean, Navis can’t go out into the real world, can they?” he asked, a hopeful note creeping into his voice.
“I didn’t think they could. Maybe we should ask Papa the next time we see him.”

Constructive criticism and feedback of other flavors is always welcome.
