Since I got out here, I've been doing something I've never done before--keep in touch with my dad via e-mail. I e-mailed my sibs regularly throughout college, but generally kept in touch with my dad with the occasional phone call. I've discovered something interesting. My dad does not use capital letters in his e-mails. None at all. Combined with the borderline painful grammar, it reads a bit like something written by a not-particuarly literate fourteen-year old, minus the netspeak. This is really ironic, since he actually edits books for a living and I know he can write nicely.

I know people who can write amazingly and still don't capitalize on the internet. It is really that hard to reach for the shift key? Is it?
