Feb. 21st, 2007 02:09 pmThe no-knead bread turned out pretty well. Very European-style, with a hard crust and a rather chewy inside. It's also really bizarre while you're making it, mostly because the dough is so soft that it's just this side of a batter. The recipe said to shape it into a round loaf, but when I did that, it just sort of oozed back into the same blobby shape it had before. So it's not a good recipe for making any fancy braids or turtles with (note to self: try making a bread turtle sometime in the near future). It is quite tasty, though, and I think I'll try making it substituting whole wheat flour for some of the white flour next time. Because there will be a next time, since this is the world's easiest bread recipe. I think I spent a total of half an hour actively messing about with the bread and half of that was my futile attempts to shape the loaf. It's like Bread For Dummies.
