Big news on the Doctor Who front today. To those trying to avoid spoilers of any sort, um … I wish you luck, considering that I found out about it while looking at front page of the BBC News website while in search of the latest info on the situation in Turkey (which is another big thing unto itself). Best course of action might be to avoid the internet entirely, at least for the next few days.


So. Matt Smith is leaving Doctor Who after the next Christmas Special. I'm actually pretty sad about this. Eleven was my first Doctor — I only started watching the series with "The Eleventh Hour," and then caught up with the rest of New Who during the break between the 6th and 7th seasons.

I know it's probably just wishful thinking, but I am hoping for either a woman or a non-white actor (or both!) to play the next Doctor. That'd be pretty sweet.

Yeah, I think it's unlikely. I do look forward to the months of fancasting, though. Miranda Richardson is my personal pick.
