Dec. 12th, 2012 06:25 pmI spent the day down in Long Beach (one of the barrier island communities of Long Island for those not local — they got SLAMMED by Sandy), on an All Hands workday. Basically, it was helping this guy tear apart the flood-damaged first floor of the house he and his elderly mom live(d) in. So lots of crowbar-wielding and taking stuff apart (floors, walls, and — my arms are currently hating me for this — crown molding up near the ceiling). Good times, and I guess I feel that it's a sort of way of making up for the fact that I made it through Sandy pretty much unscathed. I'll probably see if I can do another workday with them sometime in the near future, since they seem like a good group of people who have their act together, so far as volunteer-wrangling is concerned.
Erm, after my arms and shoulders have recovered, that is. Wow, that was a lot of using muscles that I'm not used to using. *rummages for Advil bottle*
And, since all the cool kids seem to be doing it and my subscription list is now substantially bigger than it was last week, (hi, everybody!) I'm gonna open up the comments for a round of ask me anything. Questions, comments, and sarcastic remarks are welcome!

The decisive questions of our time!

Mac or PC
Mac. I'm not militant about it like some folks, but I've been a Mac fan since before they were cool (i.e. when they were still just beige boxes and the company was an epic mess).
Winter or Summer
Winter. I'd rather be too cold than too hot and winter has SNOW. Glorious, glorious snow. There are few things, IMO, as marvelous and magical as the first snowfall of the winter. Even having to shovel out my car can't harsh my squee.
Gold or Sliver?
If we're talking jewelry, gold (colored) stuff goes better with my skin tone. Plus gold is a much more useful metal both industrially and monetarily. *nodnod*
