Jul. 11th, 2012 05:24 pmI got a letter from the NYC Department of Finance saying I was late paying a parking ticket issued on May 31. Two problems:
1) I have never received a parking ticket in my life.
2) I have not been in the city since Easter Sunday and in fact, on the date and time the ticket was issued, both me and my car were at work. At the office. Y'know, forty miles from where the ticket was issued. The plate number is right, but I looked up a scan of the ticket online, and the handwriting is bad enough that the "V" on my plate could easily be an "N" on the ticket (I can't even read what they wrote for the car model). And, again: forty miles away.
I'm going to dispute it, since paying $125 for something that is not my fault is idiotic, but what pain in the butt. If they still charge me the penalty for paying the ticket (which is not mine) late, I'm going to be pissed.
