Mar. 14th, 2012 07:47 pmAm not dead. Am trying to telepathically send a message to the lady behind me in the library that playing "Words With Friends" on your laptop, in the library, with the volume CRANKED up, is not on.
Here's a couple links to some awesome science fiction short stories that have come out of the recent election-related shenanigans.
First up, Amanda Ching's "ILU-486." It's a sort of Handmaid's Tale for 2012, set in a not-so-distant future where abortion and chemical birth control have been outlawed in most of the US.
And on a lighter note, Sam Starbuck has written "By The People (or How Reality Television Did Away With Campaign Ads)," where the election of 2024 is decided via reality show — and I'm not talking about that twenty-odd episode circus that was the 2012 Republican presidential primary debates.
