bobcatmoranThings to do today: Get prescriptions filled at Target, drop off cardboard boxes for recycling, vacuum, sweep, mop, go to the laundromat, get my purse stolen…
Oh, wait.
Yeah, I got my purse snatched while at the laundromat. Since I was running around doing all that other stuff, I decided to just leave my purse sitting in the backseat while I ran in to get my clothes from the dryer. When I hit the "unlock" button on my key fob, a guy opened the door, reached in, and grabbed my purse while I was putting the laundry basket in the trunk. I chased after him, yelling at the top of my lungs, "HEY, HE STOLE MY PURSE!!!" There may have been some variations on that theme involving the word "fucker." After a few blocks, he dropped the purse on the sidewalk. Another guy came up, asked if I was okay while I checked to see what was taken. Just cash, thankfully. The second guy gave chase, and I sort of stood there for a while, collecting myself and catching my breath. Then I headed back to the laundromat, where I discovered that I'd left my car door open while I ran after the purse-snatcher.
I'm pissed that I'm out $50, but oh it could've been so much worse. I'm leaving town (again) at way-too-early-o'clock on Monday to travel for work, and if he'd taken my cards — especially the Goverment credit card that I'd just added to my wallet — or my driver's license, I'd have been really screwed. Also, in retrospect, I have no idea what the heck I'd have done if I'd actually caught the guy. So it's a good thing I was wearing hard-to-run-in sandals.
And now, to go back to cleaning and packing.
