Well, Hurricane Earl turned out to be a wash, in more ways than one. Pretty much all we got here was rain, rain, rain, most of which I unfortunately had to be outside for. It may not have been doing much more than sprinkling at the office, but it was intermittently pouring down in Islip, where I was actually working. So I spent my afternoon alternately getting drenched and frantically trying to fill in my field map during the relatively dry periods.

Now the sun's out, and there's a lingering breeze. I might try and get to the shore today to watch the giant waves crash in.
