Bobcat is a geek
Jan. 19th, 2009 08:13 pmI have decided — possibly because I am a huge geek when it comes to Disney animation, possibly because I am really in touch with my inner eleven year old, and possibly because I am freaking insane — that, since The Princess and the Frog is coming out for the holidays this year, and since it marks the return of traditional 2-D animation at Disney, I am going to try and watch every single one of Disney's 2-D, full-length animated features before it comes out. What's more, since this project/idea isn't crazy enough already, I'm going to do it in chronological order, according to this list.. This will work out to about a film a week.
So I made sure that I can actually get all forty-four movies from the county library system, checked out a couple books on animation history and the documentary Frank and Ollie to get myself pumped up (Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston were part of the "Nine Old Men" core group of animators at Disney for a good portion of the company's animated features, and they've also written several fabulous books on the subject), and put a hold onSnow White since Local Library doesn't have it.
We'll see how I feel about this idea a few months from now, but for now I'm super excited.
