Rockman 4 translation

Clearly I have too much time on my hands, because I transcribed and then translated the Japanese version of the NES game Rockman 4, AKA "That one with Dr. Cossack's daughter." My translation is behind the cut, along with the official English script for comparison. There really weren't any differences of note, but I thought people might be interested.

	A peaceful cityscape. The sun slowly sets as the text appears.
Household robots Rock and Roll were created by master robot designer, Dr. Light, and were enjoying their peaceful days. Then one day, the industrial robots all over the world went on a rampage and the world fell into total chaos.	ロボット工学のけに、Dr．ライトによって　かいはつされた　かてい用ロボット　ロックとロールは、平和な日々を　送っていた。　ところがある日、各地の工ぎょう用ロボットが　とつぜん　あばれだし　世界中が　パニックと化した。	Robotics authority Dr. Light had developed household robots Rock and Roll, who were living every day in peace. But one day, industrial robots everywhere suddenly revolted and worldwide panic arose.
	Explosions erupt throughout the city.
Dr. Light quickly realized that mad scientist, Dr. Wily, was behind the nefarious deed but he didn't know what to do. Rock, having	Dr．ライトは、ナゾの天才科学者Dr．ワイリーの　しわざであると　きづいたが　なすすべが　なかった。	Dr. Light recognized the actions of the mysterious genius scientist Dr. Wily but didn’t know what to do.
	Rock, the lab robot, stands ready to be transformed into "Super Robot Megaman/Rockman."
a strong sense of justice, volunteered to be converted into a fighting robot. Thus the super robot Megaman was born.	せいぎかんあふれるロックは　自らのいしで改造　を望み、Dr．ライトによって　スーパーロボット　ロックマンとして　生まれかわったのである。	Overflowing with a sense of justice, Rock had a personal desire to be remodeled, and with Dr. Light’s help was reborn as the super robot Rockman.
	Megaman/Rockman rides on top of a train to...um...somewhere.
Megaman shattered Dr. Wily's plans three times and world peace has been maintained so far....but history repeats itself. Dr. Cossack, a mysterious scientist, has invented eight powerful robots and sent them after Megaman. Megaman starts for the battle again, this time equipped with the powerful New Mega Buster!!	Dr．ワイリーの野望を三度阻止し、世界の平和を守ったロックマン。　　　…が　しかし　へいわは　長くは　つづかなかった。　ナゾの科学者　Dr．コサックが　８体の　ロボットを造り出し　ロックマンに　挑戦してきたのだった。　ロックマンは　あらたにかいはつした　ニューロックバスターをそうびして　ふたたびたたかいへと　たびたつのであった。	Rockman has blocked Dr. Wily’s ambitions three times and protected world peace....but the peace did not last for long. The mysterious scientist Dr. Cossack has made eight robots and come to challenge Rockman. Rockman, equipped with the newly developed New Rock Buster, again departs for the fight.

	After Cossack’s Defeat* A grey and red blip teleports down. It's Blues! (or, if you prefer, it's Protoman!) And he has a girl (Kalinka) with him. He leaves Kalinka behind as he quickly teleports out. She runs up to our hero.
Kalinka: Please Megaman don't!! My father is not really evil. Dr. Wily took me hostage and forced my father to fight you. Please Megaman, don't hurt my father any more.	カリンカ　『ロックマンやめて！！　ちちは　あなたのおもっているような　わるい　にんげんでは　ありません。　わたしが　Dr．ワイリーに　とらわれていたので　しかたなく　あなたと　たたかうことに　なったのです　おねがいです！！　どうかちちを　ゆるしてください。	Kalinka: Rockman, stop! My dad is not the bad person you seem to think he is. Because Dr. Wily captured me, my dad was forced to fight you against his will. Please!! Please forgive my dad.
	Dr. Cossack hops out of his machine and goes to his daughter.
Cossack: Oh, Kalinka.....	コサック　『カリンカ．．．．	Cossack: Kalinka....
Kalinka: Father.....	カリンカ　『おとうさま…	Kalinka: Father...
Dr. Cossack: Megaman,forgive me!	コサック　『ロックマンすまなかった…	Cossack: Rockman, I'm sorry...
Megaman: ...................	ロックマン　『…………	Rockman: …………
	Suddenly, Cossack's machine blows up and Wily teleports in.
Wily: You betrayed me, Protoman!! I'm gonna break you, Megaman!!	ワイリー　『うらぎったな　ブルースめ！！！　こうなったら　わしがあいてだ！！！	Wily: You betrayed me, Blues!!! In that case, I'll take you on myself!!!
	Wily flies off in his UFO, giving his trademark eyebrow wiggle. From here on out, the remaining game text (i.e. the credits) are identical between the Japanese and English versions of the game.

*The English version of the game does not indicate who is speaking by in-text indications, leaving it up to the context to show who’s speaking (the characters do not have moving mouths in this game). The Japanese version does have in-text indications, which I have preserved, punctuation and all.

**Special thanks to skrymiir for help on translating one of Wily's lines which, as it interestingly turns out is probably the only place in the game where the actual meaning of something got butchered in translation.

Due to the differences in Our Hero’s name, there is one extremely minor difference that I did not note in the translation: on the weapon select screen, the basic weapon is the “M. Buster” in English and “R. Buster” in Japanese.
