bobcatmoranOkay, so now I really have internet access. I got in with a coworker last time, but since then discovered that the key they gave me that was supposed to let me into the VC after hours was actually some other mystery key that nobody knows the purpose of. >_< I finally got the correct key this morning.
I hate to say it, but in some ways, that's been fairly par for course so far--the last park I worked at seemed to have their act much more together than here. Maybe it's just because this is a bigger place and there's more people and stuff to keep track of, but there's just been a lot of little frustrations.
For example: We traveled up to North Dakota for training a couple weeks ago, and before we left, T, the other member of the team I'm working on, asked if we'd need to bring sleeping bags, food, cooking utensils, etc. "Oh, no," we were told. "You're going to be in park housing and that will all be taken care of."
When we got there, we were asked, "You guys brought sleeping bags and stuff, right?" No, we didn't. Because we were told we didn't need to. "Well, that's all right, we can find something for you. You'll be doing your own cooking, but you knew that, right?" Um, no... "Well, there's a grocery store in That Town, up the highway about 40 miles."
Okay, so maybe the food thing wasn't all that inconvenient, but we could've saved money and avoided the situation I now have, where I have two almost-full jars of jelly, two half-full jars of peanut butter, and an abundance of cereal, had we just been told, "Oh, and they'll have kitchens there for you to cook your meals, since none of the eateries in town are open for the season yet except the place fondly referred to by the locals as the "Up-chuck Wagon."
