Little Serengeti on the Prairie?

Oh, here's a brilliant idea. Let's save the endangered African animals by moving them to the Great Plains of the U.S. *headdesk*

I could write a decent sized essay on why you shouldn't bring foreign species to new environments--heck, I've spent pretty much my entire summer dealing with problems induced by just that--but without even going into that aspect, there seems to be something that hasn't been taken into account here. Like climate. The last time I checked, these animals are from an area pretty near the equator. The Great Plains are at a significantly higher latitude, and have stuff like snow which these animals probably wouldn't be able to deal with. There's a reason why zoos--at least the ones in the parts of the Great Plains where I've been--have indoor habitats for their African animals in addition to the outdoor ones.

Oi, I'd have to agree. I got the 'don't introduce strange animals to foreign places' speech in second grade! Rabbits in Australia, African bees in Mexico, hello~? Someone ain't listening, or never got 'the talk'.
