Aug. 19th, 2009 06:51 amAs it turns out, I got up too early. The plan was to walk to work, but after getting borderline heat exhaustion on Monday, I added a third "Do Not Walk To Work" condition. In addition to 1) rain/snow, and 2) dark when I leave the apartment, I now have 3) heat advisory + air quality warning. It's looking to be the third day in a row with a heat index in the high 90s or low 100s, and I'm betting that there's going to be another air quality alert put out for "sensitive people," i.e. my asthmatic self, because that seems to be what happens whenever the temperature gets to around 90°. I feel bad about driving and contributing to the miasma of pollution, but I've gotten full-blown heat exhaustion once before and never, ever want to repeat the experience.
So, since it takes me twenty minutes less to drive to work than to walk, I have some time to kill. And I thought I'd kill it by sharing a hilarious ad for 1,325 pope hats.
