Spelunx

I went spelunking yesterday! It was AWESOME. There's a whole bunch of basalt lava tubes around here, and a whole bunch of the seasonals went into the biggest of the easily accessible ones. The formations weren't as spectacular as those you'd find in a limestone cave--basalt + water ≠ stalactites and stalagmites--but considering that what formations there were basically from dripping molten rock, having stuff hanging down 10-15 cm is pretty amazing. And there was also one part where you could see roots coming down from plants on the surface, and another place where a little limber pine seedling was coming up in a wood rat's nest. My arms kind of hurt today from the three places where we had to belly crawl, but it was so totally worth it. Caves are cool, y'know?

Also, since Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is coming out tomorrow, and my copy won't be arriving in the mail for another week or so, I'm going to be more-or-less dropping off the face of the net in order to avoid spoilers. It's a bit drastic, I know, especially since I'm no longer really active in the Harry Potter fandom, but I have a feeling that if I don't, I'm going to see a carelessly written, "OMG THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE IS HEDWIG!!11!!!

Disclaimer: This is a purely hypothetical situation, and if Hedwig actually is the half-blood prince, then I'm a blast-ended skrewt.
