Dec. 3rd, 2011 03:40 pmThe Kimball-Pepin lecture was awesome (more on that later, if I remember/can get internet access), and I got books signed by both of them, which was super exciting.
Unfortunately, a side effect of that, plus my massive perusal of cookbooks/interweb bookmarks in search of a good cookie recipe for the office Holiday party, added to finishing up Iain Banks' The Algebraist (amazing SF, which plunges you into a completely alien world) resulted in some really, really weird dreams involving eating extraterrestrial food. There was definitely some stuff where I had to read the labels carefully to make sure I was eating the right bits, and some fending off of some things on my plate to make sure they didn't eat other things on my plate. Also, waking up to find that I had drooled all over my pillow.
Basically, I think this is my subconscious telling me that hard SF and cooking magazines are a bad mixture.
