Apr. 23rd, 2005 09:23 pmWell, it looks like for now my life's chaos level has been restored to semi-normal, a bit earlier than expected, which means this journal will now return to your reguarly scheduled ramblings. The things that I was most stressing out about — having a job and somewhere to live after graduation (various issues came up with the Dworshak Reservoir internship which meant that I wouldn't be able to work there) have been taken care of. Oddly enough, I'm still going to be going to Idaho, come the end of May. It'll just be in a slightly different place — Craters of the Moon National Monument (which I admit I applied for at least partially so I could tell people that I was working at the Craters of the Moon ^_^). It'll still be a botany/GPS position, only more GPS than botany in this case, and no solo camping. I wonder why all the jobs I've applied for that are actually within a few hours of home have rejected me, yet both jobs I applied for in Idaho accepted me? I guess I'm just meant to go out West. I hope I'll like it.
I'm also all done with orchestra. We had our final concert of the year last night. I wish I had a recording which I could post of the piece we played that was written by a fellow student. It was so amazingly beautiful, kind of reminiscent of James Horner's better stuff or teh "Gandalf" movement of Johann de Meij's Lord of the Rings symphony. Also on the program was Mozart's 31st symphony, Capriccio Espagnol by Rimsky-Korsokov (whose name I probably just misspelt horribly), and the strings played a piece by Tchiakovsky. It was a good final concert. I'm going to really miss playing in a large ensemble like that. Maybe wherever I settle down there will be some sort of community band or orchestra that has room for an oboe/English horn. That would be nice. I love the rush of playing together with a bunch of other musicians, hearing how your part fits in just so, and getting lost in the music. It's been a great stress reliever for me these last few weeks, as a time when I can just sort of set my worries aside for an hour and a half.
